Leadership Isn’t About Power—It’s About Growth

Leadership isn’t just about learning concepts—it’s about applying them in the messy, real-world challenges of teams, businesses, and communities. Yet, too often, leadership is taught in a way that feels theoretical and disconnected from reality. As Alvesson et al. (2017) put it, “theoretical ideas and concepts are often abstract and cleansed of real-life complexities and complications” (p. 143).

Next week, our students will put their leadership skills to the test as they plan and execute professional development events. Plans will shift, unexpected problems will emerge, and they’ll need to think on their feet.
🔹 But that’s where REAL leadership happens.
🔹 Because leadership is about growth, not perfection.

The best leaders don’t have all the answers. Instead, they commit to self-awareness, adaptability, and continuous learning—and they lead by showing up as their real, imperfect selves. When we embrace that mindset, we create space for others to do the same. 💡 Have you ever faced a leadership challenge you didn’t expect? 👍 for yes!
